Lyons Overview

A charming small town (population of 1200-1250), complete with regular carnivals, parades, and a delightful culinary scene. Lyons boasts a wide array of colorful highlights, including the RockyGrass Bluegrass Festival held each summer, ice skating rinks in the winter, and lots of antique stores for year round entertainment. Formed in the 1880 as a quarry town, Lyons has become famous for its red flag stone, which has been used to build several of the CU buildings, as well as for many construction and landscaping projects worldwide. Many of these quarries are still operating today. The town itself is home to fifteen sandstone structures, and has a strong Historical Society dedicated to preserving these magnificent reminders of the town's origin.

For even more of an adventure, only twenty minutes away is Rocky Mountain National Park – Lyons' location at the intersection of State Highway 7 and U.S. 36 has earned it the nickname "The Double Gateway to the Rockies". Lyons is also twenty minutes away from Estes Park, making it prime Colorado real estate for those looking for a peaceful, uncongested community just minutes away from some of the greatest sights in Colorado.
